0 Question: What is the study of insects called? Asked by barney to Iain, Jo, Leo on 24 Jun 2010 in Categories: General.
Iain Moal answered on 24 Jun 2010:
Entomology
Leo Garcia answered on 24 Jun 2010:
It is called ‘entomology’ – which is not to be confused with ‘etymology’ which is the study of words.
If you are interested in insects, why not head down to the Royal Insect Festival:

Or even, Pestival

Not quite, entomon is Greek, and means ‘insect’, and entomology is a combination of that and ‘logica’ which is greek for ‘the study of’.
Don’t know why I’m replying though, because I think I’ve been evicted ;-(
Haha, I just realised that we were talking about the etymology of entomology.
wer we… HO yea, lol 😛
Pestival.org, what an epic site!
