0 Question: Why do we have eyelashes? Asked by claireandhannah to Gioia, Iain, Jo, Leo, Mariam on 21 Jun 2010 in Categories: General.
Joanna Watson answered on 15 Jun 2010:
I assume that they are there to protect our eyes and stop bad things getting in there.
Gioia Cherubini answered on 16 Jun 2010:
I think that they are a protective barrier, so that things like dust can get trapped there instead of going into the eyes
Mariam Orme answered on 16 Jun 2010:
I think the purpose of eyelashes is to help keep dust and dirt and insects out of our eyes. And they look pretty.
Leo Garcia answered on 21 Jun 2010:
We have eyelashes to protect our eyes from debris, and to warn our eyes if something is very close to them – kind of like whiskers on a cat.
