I don’t usually tell people until I get to know them. Being a scientist is great, but I don’t show off about it because other people do really great things too!

If it comes up in conversation – if someone asks what I do for a living – then I tell them. But I don’t go around shouting about it!

If jobs come up in conversation, then I’ll mention it, but otherwise I don’t see why I should. When I get my doctorate, I certainly don’t expect people to call me Dr. Moal. I would be much more comfortable being called Iain, because thats my name.

I am very proud to be a scientist so if people ask me what I do I am very happy to tell them all about my work! I’m at the start of my science career so I haven’t done very much to be modest about yet! But I do find my work interesting and I like telling other people about it.
