I didn’t get bullied for liking science, but to be honest I was quite naughty at school and sometimes used to pretend that I didn’t like science as much as I did. Sometimes I would even give wrong answers on tests on purpose so that my name didn’t get read out for doing well. I never did that with important exams like GCSEs though!!!

I wish that I had been confident enough to admit that I was good at science when I was at school, because a lot of the things you can do with science are really cool – who doesn’t like astronauts?! It’s great that there are some cool scientists on the telly now – like Brian Cox – he was even in a band before he became a physicist.

Do you think that things like I’m A Scientist will make it less likely that people will get bullied for liking science? I really hope so!!!

Not at all – in fact, most of my friends went on to do something science related at university. If anyone has a problem with your interest in science, then they are completely in the wrong, and have no conception as to the importance and wonder that comes with science.

No, I didn’t. And I think that would be a very stupid thing to bully someone for (but then again, bullying is really stupid whatever it’s for).
