• Question: do any of u no any easy ways 2 make jelly babys explode ????

      Well, you could attach an explosive device to them – but I don’t suppose that that is an option.

      Which shows a chemist making a jelly baby ‘explode’. According to here:

      The combustion of the jelly baby is due to oxidisation of carbohydrate in the jelly baby by to the molten potassium chloride in the test tube. That’s not necessarily an easy way of making jelly babies explode, but it’s apparently the most famous way!

      Until I saw your question I had no idea that Jelly Babies could be made to explode!!!

      Like Leo said though, it seems that putting them into an oxidising agent (like hot Potassium Chloride) can make them explode.

      Its easy, but perhaps a bit dangerous, and you’d be hard pressed to find the potassium diosulphate.
