Not in my job – although there are plenty of people researching ways of reducing the negative impact that humans have on our world. At home, though, I recycle, compost and try to buy locally grown produce.

There is a group of scientists who are concerned about the environmental impact of science, such as regular flights to conferences:

Take a look at their site – it’s very interesting!

There isn’t really much opportunity to help the environment in the work that I do, but I always try to reduce the amount of paper that I use by printing things on both sides of the paper and we recycle all the paper that we don’t need any more.

At home I try not to use too much electricity, keep the heating off or as low as possible and try not to leave things like the TV on standby.
