Question: Do you try to be economically friendly when conducting experiments and research?

  I am quite aware that everything that we use is quite expensive, so I always try to use things in a more efficient way. For example we have some special bottles with filters and they say that you can fill it up to 250 ml, but I have worked out that I can actually put 400ml in them, so I can use less bottles and there is less waste then!

  We definitely try to do things the cheapest way we can – without compromising the quality of the research of course. We get our money from charity and from taxes so it would be awful to waste it.

  Do you mean environmentally friendly? If so, then yes – all research institutes and universities will have an environmental care policy. If you really DO mean economically friendly – well, we all like saving money!

  Yes, I always think about how much an experiment is going to cost, and make sure I don’t waste money – I think this is especially important because a lot of my funding is from a charity.
