• Question: Have you got close to achieving what you are aiming for?

      Not really, because every time you get close to achieving something there is always a new question to answer. Even if we found a way to prevent one type of cancer, there would still be more types to study, or other diseases to try to prevent.

      I have promising results, that means that so far the results on the killing of pancreatic cells with the oncolytic virus have been very positive, but there is much more work before I achieve the goal: giving it as a treatment to patients.

      I have already achieved one of my short-term aims: I’ve discovered a new protein that seems to be important for controlling when cells die. The next aim is to understand more about how it works and what it’s doing. And of course the long-term aim is to use this information to develop new drugs to kill cancer cells… but it will be a long time before I achieve that aim.
