It depends. At the moment I’m very busy, but normally about 40. My boss is very relaxed, so I can just turn up when I want and leave when I want. As long as I get the job done, he doesn’t mind.

Officially, I do 38 hours a week on my work. Some weeks I do less than that though, and some weeks I do WAY more.

I treat my job as a 9 to 5 – so, around 35 hours a week. However, sometimes you need to work longer, and sometimes you have deadlines to meet. I would say my hours are towards the lower end of things for PhD students. You can find some crazy figures for the kind of hours some PhD students put in!

I usually work from 8:30 to 5:30, but it can vary depending on what I have to do, sometimes I manage to arrive later or finish earlier, but it can happen as well that I have to stay longer or work during the weekends (not very often to be honest 😉 ). On average I think it’s around 45 hours…now that you make me think about it, that sounds a lot!!! :S

It can vary a lot, depending on what sort of experiments I’m doing and whether I have any deadlines coming up that I have to work frantically for. Some weeks, if I don’t have too much going on, I only spend about 40 hours working; but at the other extreme, some weeks I spend pretty much every waking minute working (with time off to eat and go to the toilet!).
