I don’t really do experiments, I work as part of a team on big studies that take a long time (usually years). I spend about half my time planning and organising the studies and about half my time analysing the data from them.

I’d say I spend most of my time doing experiments – in an average week, maybe about 70% of my time is spent preparing for and doing experiments. And another 10-15% is spent thinking about my project and planning future experiments.

My schedule varies a lot from day to day. Most days start off with me checking on my flies, which usually takes at least an hour. After that, it’s very variable, but always busy!

Everyday! Usually on Friday, on the basis of the results of the exps, I plan the exps to do for next week and I manage to do about 3-4 experiments per week. Sometimes, after getting a lot of results, I need to stop doing experiments for a bit, to give me time to understand and interpret the data. For example, this week I’m working from home because I have a lot of work to do on the computer with the results of the exps that I have done in the last couple of months (…and it’s also an excuse to spend more time with you guys 😉 )
