• Question: I know I ask this a lot, but what iss being a scientist like? Is it sometimes boring? Or fun every day? I dunno, thats why I\'m asking. :-) Super smiley, random. But still. Randomness rocks!

Its just like being anyone else. You go to work, have a social life, and are just like everyone else. Only difference is that you work in a lab, and talk about ideas and theories and experiments as a job. I love it.

it’s something different everyday! It’s as if you invent your work day by day, but sometimes it can be frustrating because your experiment doesn’t work and you have to repeat it lots of times or because your experiments tells you that your hypothesis wasn’t correct 🙁 But trust me, it’s never boring

No job is ever always fun, or always boring. Most jobs (if you enjoy them) are a mixture of both, and some days more one than the other. Working as a scientist is a great job, though, and it is worthwhile and very satisfying.

No, actually that’s a very good question – part of the point of this is for you to get an idea of what it’s like to be a scientist.

I do find my job fun a lot of the time, but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t boring at times. Sometimes I have to repeat the same experiment lots of times if it’s not working, just changing one little thing at a time to try and figure out what’s going wrong. And once a week I have to shake all my flies into fresh tubes, that’s pretty boring!

So it’s not all fun, but quite a lot of it is fun!

Being a scientist is just like any other job – good days and bad days. Fortunately, in my job I have a lot more good days than bad days! I like being a scientist because I find my work really interesting, and knowing that I’m trying to help people makes the boring stuff or hard stuff easier.

Randomness does indeed rock BTW 🙂
