• Question: My friend told me that if u leave a bottle of water in the car for a couple of days that it can cause cancer i was just wondering if this is true??? :)

      No, that isn’t true. It might be a bit warm (and drinking warm water is fairly horrible), but in no way could it give you cancer. Tell your friend that they are mistaken!

      Hi sciencetube145.
      If any bacteria got into the bottle while it was open it might give you an upset tummy – but it won’t cause cancer.
      After a couple of days it is very unlikely to make you poorly at all though.

      I think I talked to one of you about this in a live chat.
      Leaving a bottle of water in a car for a couple of days would not make it harmful. If the bottle is left there for a really long time, then perhaps it’s possible that some of the chemicals from the plastic bottle would leech into the water. But after just a couple of days it should definitely be fine.
