      Hi.
      I work on trying to figure out the causes of cancer and on cancer screening. I’ve mostly worked on bowel cancer so far, but I have done a little bit of research on breast cancer.

      I’m not really looking at cancer – I know that sounds silly for a cancer researcher to say! But I work on basic biology rather than specifically investigating cancer. The aim of my work is to understand more about how cells normally die if they’re no longer necessary or if something goes wrong with them. This will help us understand more about how cancer cells avoid dying, and ultimately will help us design new drugs to kill cancer cells.

      I’m working on pancreatic cancer, for which there are no valuable treatments at the moment and see if we can use oncolytic viruses (viruses that are modified to specifically kill tumour cells) together with chemodrugs as a more effective way to kill the cancer

      I look at diagnosing breast cancer, and using ultrasound to guide tumour removal surgery in the brain.
