A teacher, because I have always liked explaining things and little teacher was one of my nicknames!

In my careers interviews, I was told that I should be a lawyer. Not that there’s anything particularly wrong with being a lawyer, but I am very glad that I didn’t actually do that. I have also wanted to be a doctor, a DJ, a guitarist and a music producer. I thought about doing astrophysics – but ended up specialising in medical physics.

I don’t doubt that I will continue to change my mind about what I want to do with my life! It’s perfectly normal to not be 100 % sure about what you want to do – and I know plenty of people older than me who still don’t know!

I’ve wanted to be lots of things.

When I was at school I wanted to be a horse vet and I did work experience with a vet practice in Newmarket that specialises in racehorses.

I really like music, so I thought about working for a record company, and for a while I wanted to work in advertising.

I’m glad that I decided to be a scientist though, I really like the job that I have now.

I wanted to be a doctor for quite a long time, and for a little while I thought about being a lawyer. But by the time I left school I wanted to be a scientist.

A scientist, or a rock star.
