I think that the most worthwhile thing that I have done in my job is teaching students. It would be great if any of the students that I have taught use something I have taught them to help other people.

I would say that my greatest scientific achievement so far has been to get data challenging the accepted view about how two particular proteins work together. These two proteins are both implicated in cancer, so understanding more about how they work is important for finding treatments. I was very proud to get my work published in a good journal.

But I also think that doing things like I’m a Scientist, giving talks in schools and also to the general public are very worthwhile indeed. They’re not strictly part of my job (I don’t get paid for doing them), but I really enjoy telling people more about science.
