I didn’t know I wanted to research cancer until I chose my PhD! So I was around 21. My other PhD offers were from medical physics related subjects, though, which probably would have entailed some kind of cancer imaging. But researching ways of diagnosing cancer is very important, and I feel very proud to tell people that that’s what I do for a living.
