I would like to find a better way of treating cancer patients by using computer system which tailor treatments to the patient. No single human brain is good enough to understand all of the complicated things that go on inside a cell, but if I could make a computer which can ‘think’ like a cell, and understand why cells behave the way they do, then I could use information from that computer to find the best way of treating the patient.

If I found something that made even a tiny difference to helping people live healthier lives that would be great.

It would be amaaaazing if I found out something that made a big difference, but hardly any scientists get to make a big difference on their own.

I’d like to make it easier for doctors to diagnose cancer by improving a particular way of looking at tumours called ultra-sound elastography.

My aim is to find out more about the process by which cells die, and to be able to use this information to develop new ways to kill cancer cells. That would be great!

I can’t achieve this goal by myself, but I would like that in 20 years time the cancer treatment that I have started to work on, could be given to patients
