      Earlobes, apparently, have no major known biological function. Perhaps, in our evolutionary past they did. Some theories include their use of ways of losing heat, or maintaining balance.

      However, earlobes have plenty of cultural significance – for instance, people have been piercing their earlobes for several thousand years.
