I like science because I get to learn new things all the time, and science makes things make sense, if that makes sense.

I like science because it is the best system that humans have ever created for finding out about the world around us. We have no equivalent system which has shown to any degree the success that we have had with the scientific method. Think about what we wouldn’t have without science… Think about people you know who wouldn’t be here today with medical science…

I also like having my opinions challenged, corrected and improved by other scientists in my field. This is also true when I pass on my own knowledge to someone else!

Science has the power to provoke awe and inspiration in everyone, when it is explained clearly and simply. When I read about cosmology, or quantum physics, or the latest developments in understanding of evolutionary biology, I am struck with wonder at just how far we carbon-based ape descendents have come by even having the wherewithall to develop science and confront what it told us about life head on!

I’ve always enjoyed finding out about how things work – especially people and animals, and science is the best way to do it.

I like science because I find it fascinating to try and understand how the world works – science can help us understand EVERYTHING!
